Thai people knows what's good welfare economics here.

In Thiland, the government will soon introduce the regulation for controlling Large-scale retail stores that can have more that 120 m2 floor space.

Now, here the unemplyment rate is only 1.1% and this statistical data can mean counting many small street vendors.
Moreover, we should know one day wage is only five to seven dollars per day.

Why they can live with such low living cost?

I think originally items of basic human needs is inexpensive because Thai is well-endowed in the food category and depending on local-production for local-consumption.
In this sistuation, Street vendors add thier very low overhead cost and the commodity prices could have been kept lower.

Therefore, one query appeared here.

It is whether Large stores can absorb the labour force instead of many tiny retail operators and can keep the same price level in comparison with the conventional and simple logistics.

I think it is questonable for the time being because Thai economy is relying on Export sector accouting GDP 60% and weighing Cost competitiveness.
It is better that any cost shall be cheaper and we can understand the government policy.
Plus, the policy of boosting employment will be also involved.

After all, this situation is quite different from Advanced country such as Japan and US.

But, in EU we can still see many vendors through TV sightseeing programs.
Whta’s the differece?

I think Thai may continuously support the local dealers for their economic policy.
And it may be similar to EU style.
In this point, I believe Thai people knows what good welfare economics here.
